Spreading good health around the world

Global Health Initiatives, the Centura Health medical mission program started in 2005, sends volunteers to remote locations like Nepal, Rwanda and Peru, with other faith-based hospital partners. We provide no-cost surgical, medical and community health programs, education and training, and we need your help.

Improving lives through medical missions

It serves by building upon the core strengths and missions of its hospitals to:

  • Providing high quality health care around the world
  • Collaborating with others to strengthen local health systems and increase our impact
  • Extending the healing ministry of Christ

Banepa, Nepal sits near Asia’s Himalayas; Mugonero, Rwanda nestles near placid Lake Kivu in central Africa; Iquitos, Peru is a beyond-road jungle capital on the Amazon River in South America; Haiti, an impoverished island in the Caribbean is still in recovery from the 2010 earthquake. In these remote regions, health care is very limited or extremely difficult to obtain.

Centura Global Health Initiative (GHI) short-term medical mission trips seek to make a significant impact in these communities through no-cost surgical, medical, community health, and education programs.

GHI has established strong local partnerships with other faith-based hospitals to provide consistent and on-going health services. Unlike other medical mission programs that offer a more scattered approach, GHI strategic relationships with in country hospitals and local partners ensure the sustainability of our programs.

  • Our Mission

We extend the healing ministry of Christ by strengthening existing health facilities and services in developing countries, and by nurturing the health of the people in those communities through local partnerships.

  • Our History

GHI was established in 2005 as an initiative of Centura Health. GHI was formed through the financial support of the Adventist hospitals in Colorado, Adventist Health System (AHS), and Catholic Health Initiatives (who joined with GHI in 2009). GHI is directed by Greg Hodgson and a team of advisors and volunteers.

  • Join the Cause

Global Health Initiatives (GHI) medical mission trips serve the underserved communities across the world. Our hope is to leave a lasting impact on the people living in Nepal, Peru, Rwanda and Haiti through healing the sick and bringing joy to the broken. Our trips focus on providing surgical care and medical services to the local communities free of charge.

Every healthcare worker and volunteer has a life changing experience on a GHI trip. While our medical teams are busy living the mission, they are transformed in the process. There is no greater testament than meeting someone in their brokenness and changing their circumstance. Many of our trip participants fall in love with the country, the people, and the mission and become a self-proclaimed “Lifer”. Please watch our videos and see for yourself how GHI is impacting people and changing lives.
